Hebrews 13:5 - "Be content with such things as ye have; for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."
It is a plus to be "content with such things as ye have" because
the divine promises attached to this are unbelievable true and
unchangeable. "Such Things as ye have" is guaranteed by Jesus'
affirmation of being with us all the way and He will be by our side all
the time. The Greek literally means to "Such Things as ye have" as
within us an undeveloped power and only awaiting the call. Sometimes we
may think and wish that we have more money, or more brains, fame and
influences. We may dream of the lives we might have if we have all the
money in the world, and the deeds we could do, if only there are better
circumstanced. But the author of Hebrew said that God says NO!!! If we
think like that, then we have present ourselves within the narrow
confinement of our own reach and the limitations that the world is
proposing. If we are content with what the world has to offer, then we
have limited and never explored the resources and abundances of our own
soul in the God of this universe.
"Such things as ye have"--Remember
that Moses had only a rod, but with God's Divine Power the Red Sea was
opened in two. David had only five pebbles, but these with God brought
down the giant, Goliath. The woman had only a little pot of oil, but
that pot of oil with God paid all her debts. The poor widow was scraping
the bottom of the barrel, but with God the handful of meal kept her
child, herself, and the prophet until the rain came. The boy had only
five tiny loaves and two small fish, but with Jesus they were enough for
five thousand mouths. The good thing is that God allows us to estimate
what we have got, and then count God into the equation, and He will
never let go of our hands or let us go empty handed. He said "I will
never leave nor forsake those that trust in Me."
Be Content then:
The Bible and History has proved that the most glorious deeds that
have blessed and enriched the world have not been done by wealthy men.
Our Lord Jesus had none of this world's goods; the apostles had neither
silver nor gold, but in the Name of Jesus "Everything" comes into
existence. It is not money, but human love and God that is needed.
Therefore do not be covetous, do not hoard, but Be strong and content.
With good courage say: "The Lord is my Helper; I will not fear" for life
or death, for sorrow or joy!
AMEN.
